Notes

FYI, Sirdar patterns run big! Measure carefully. I was halfway through the back on the largest size when I realized it was about 2 inches too wide! I ended up just casting off four stitches on each side and then knitting the remainder of the back in a different size. When seaming, I just basted some contrast color yarn along where the edge would have been and sewed it as if the larger bit didn’t exist. I’m glad I did because its a perfect fit!

I’m hoping to get this done by September(um, I guess September 2010 at this point?)! I initially wanted to do it in a tweed, but found them all to be prohibitively expensive. This yarn has beautiful heathering and nice, country look to it. And it’s cheap!

Grumperina’s tutorial on cabling without a cable needle makes this project a million times easier (http://www.grumperina.com/cables.htm)..

Update, August 2010 Still on track for September 2010, yes! Front and back are now finished and sleeves are cast on! I can’t believe I might actually finish this thing.

Update: OMG, I’m done! I’m worried it might be a little too long, but we shall see…
