Notes

This pattern is so perfect. I knitted it without any alteration to the instruction (there was a mistake on the instruction for the cable CF5 - but I don’t know if it has been updated), except scaling it to a size right between XS and S for the body, and followed the instruction for XS sleeves. This is why I love knitting - I get to do whatever it takes to make it fit! :-p

I received these yarns from my BFF for my birthday this year - after whining about how much I wanted to make this sweater but bought the wrong yarn so had to end up making something else. This Angel’s Kiss Aplaca yarn turned out to be the perfect choice for this sweater! Thank god for my BFF and my LYS (Woolworks) for carrying this amazing yarn. This yarn has good stitch definition, and the cable comes out perfectly. I really don’t like the feel of any synthetic fiber so I didn’t want to go with the original prescribed yarn. I have been wearing this sweater a lot since I finished it and it’s warm but breathable - perfect for the freezing weather we are having at Baltimore right now!

But, I did made a huge mistake that makes me want to cry. I converted the pattern to knitting in the rounds, and didn’t realize the increase row from the twisted rib to the sweater body part was written for the WS…. so I am stuck with this really ugly purl row. I didn’t realize it until the WHOLE sweater is finished. ARGH!

So, I am going to try to do some right-angle weave beading and sew it onto the garment and hope this will mask it…. I think I also need to have my dear hubby takes some more pictures in the sunlight…

Note for the neck: I think if one wants to make the neck look like the one shown on the pictures in the pattern, one definitely needs to pick up more stitches than instructed on the pattern. I was thinking that when I was knitting, but decided to follow the pattern (big mistake!) When I make this again for a sleeveless dress, I am definitely going to pick up at least 110 stitches (or as many as it takes), and maybe put in a piece of stiff fabric to make it stand better.

I also tried the sweater on before I put on the sleeves… I think it’ll look perfect as a sleeveless dress…. I am going to get the yarn to make it soon!
