Knitters beware - measure the sleeve size before you proceed, else it’s a lot of RIP…..!

Sleeve arm width from pattern is huge. My gauge is always spot on and I never have issues like this, so I think it is designed that way. But it didn’t wear that way on the model - I have knitted far too many sweaters to know this is going to be a problem down the road, so when I was knitting the sleeves I just made them really short and block it it heavily to make the width to the size I need. I really lucked out b/c this is linen and linen stretches significantly and can be blocked well.

I also don’t understand why the bodice was instructed to be knitted in 3 separate pieces. I don’t think it needed added structure from seaming.

Sorry about complaining so much about this pattern. I just felt it was a big disappointment given the amount of the attention I have to pay to it. I write a fair amount of pattern myself and I only buy a pattern when I don’t feel like doing any thinking, but I end up having to think anyway! And I also thought this was going to be a seamless construction like most of her other patterns, so I was really shocked when I realized this is just a traditional seamed piece. Honestly I wouldn’t have purchase the pattern if it was sold by itself, but the Make magazine was really pretty so it was worthwhile to own a copy.

Overall I really like the end result. It wears really well and goes with everything.
