I used three colors of Vanna’s Choice for this hat. The main photo’s colors are muted, so in reality, this hat is much brighter. I’ve added a second photo to show the true colors.

I tweaked this hat a bit. Changes are as follows.

I CO 52.
I followed pattern until R 9-21. I K for an additional 8 rounds to make the hat a little taller. I ended up K rounds 9-29. I altered the written instructions after that as follows.

Rd 29- K10, K2tog, repeat * 3 more times
Rd 30- K all st around.
Rd 31- K9, K2tog, repeat * 3 more times.
Rd 32- K all st around.
Rd 33- K8, K2tog, repeat * 3 more times.
Rd 34- K all st around.
Rd 35- K7, K2tog, repeat * 3 more times.
Rd 36- K all st around.
Rd 37 K6, K2tog, repeat * 3 more times.
Rd 38-40 K all st around.
Rd 41- K5, K2tog, repeat * 3 more times.
Rd 42-49- K all st around.
Rd 50- K4, K2tog, repeat * 3 more times.
Rd 51-57- K all st around.
Rd 58-K3, K2tog, repeat 3 more times.
Rd 59-66- K all st around.
Rd 67- K2, K2tog, repeat 3 more times.
Rd 68- 72- K all st around.

STOPPED AT ROW 72 and then did K2tog

I used the remaining stitches to make two separate i-cords. Once they were long enough, I twisted them together. To finish, I did a running stitch with yarn to keep the tail twisted.
