Love Babette. Thought in miniature she would make a lovely table runner for my Aunt (per her Xmas wish for a colorful runner).

My Aunt loves color like I do…so I used lots of cotton stash remnants from many projects. (Even the little itty bitty leftovers I wasn’t sure why I saved. Yay me! Guess I will continue to save these in the future as well.) Often there was only enough of a color to make one tiny square, or one round of a bigger square. As long as light/dark values were balanced, I knew it would turn out fine. Lots of oddball variegated yarns used up, but balanced out with solids. I really like how the variegated brown worked around the edge.

I used the 2, 4, and 6 rounders from the pattern and put them together as I pleased. I made lots of the 2 rounders first, then a few of the others and figured out color placement the closer I got to the length I needed. I wove in most ends as I went along…except for the last end yarn of the square. I used this for attaching the squares to each other, and saved myself some extra end weaving by not using additional joining yarns.

Used an H hook for the bigger squares, a G7 for the 2 rounders and the border. Learned this from my first Babette…this helps with making the 2 rounders fit better, and for the border rounds to not be wavy.

The border used is #83 from Edie Eckman’s Crochet Borders book, with 2 additional rows of sc. I’ve never used a bead stitch before…I like it.

Slip stitched together, back loops only.

(Going to wet block before mailing, and maybe take some better pictures than my cell phone allows.)
