Great little pattern. Easy to understand directions. Fast and easy to knit. Came out really cute. I will definitely be making this again, I might even try a solid color version next time. :)
River ‘s Daddy is a Naval Flight Officer. I think this aviator hat is perfect for her.

Made the 6-12mos size and it fits my super chunky 5mo old granddaughter very nicely with plenty of room to grow.

I’m past the 2” garter section and onto my first stockinette stripe (of Better Draper’s Blues). This is going really fast. Decrease area will be in Dahlia.

Finished a few days ago. The ends woven in Saturday. Got the mismatched buttons on today. I seriously love this hat and can’t wait to see River wearing it.
I did 4 3/4” before starting the decreases, it was looking a little long in the crown. We shall see how this ‘shortening up’ looks when she gets to try it on, and I will make note here. I will also add a cute baby-wearing-hat picture. :)
The scrappiness factor with the color changes is super fun, so I used some mismatched buttons (red, hot pink, green) to add to the look. I almost wish I had changed up color on one of the ear flaps as well. This is for my grandaughter, but if she ever has a little brother, a button color change would make this a more boyish look.

It looks like this sweet hat is going to fit another winter! River is now 14months old.
