Notes

I bought 3 skeins of Caribou when it was discounted during the Daylight Savings Time Sale at Gosh Yarn It.

I was intrigued to work with this yarn that knits up like “fake fur” and that many knitters have used to make baby blankets. I may be crazy, but, I decided to knit a throw (little blanket) for my daughter’s (little) dog. She has a favorite fuzzy light gray pullover from Patagonia that little Lionel loves to snuggle into whenever she lays it down.

The free baby blanket pattern requires 4 skeins, and the cast on is 80 stitches. For my 3 skein (small dog) throw, I cast on 60 stitches. I used a kitchen scale to divide the azure yarn into two equal 25 gram balls. I measured and made two 16 gram balls of the charcoal yarn for the ends of the blanket.

Knitted in garter stitch: 16 gram ball charcoal, 25 gram ball azure, all of the charcoal that was not the other 16 gram ball, 25 gram ball of azure, and then final 16 gram ball of charcoal.

(A mindless project when I needed one.)

(Lionel approves.)
