Notes

I often knit a garment in colors that differ from those shown in the pattern. In this instance, I quickly purchased the exact same recommended yarn and colors after purchasing the book. Now I am happy that I did so, as I have read that the yarn is becoming increasingly scarce in the USA.

The pattern calls for 2 balls of the main color. I only used one ball for the size medium mittens. Now there is enough yarn remaining for a second pair. These will be a gift. They look very regal.

Difficulty rating: The knitting on this project is very easy. Tying the knot in the I-cord and sewing it down evenly was a little “fiddly”. It takes some patience to slow down and finish applying the cording.

As written, the pattern allows the cuff to sort of “fly open” at the slit in the cuff. To keep the wrist area warmer (we are in Wisconsin), I sewed the I-cord edges together for about an inch down from the wrist line. You could vary this length of sewing depending on whether the cuff needs to be outside or inside your coat sleeve.
