I used at least 8 colors, hence the 8 skeins. The hat only takes a portion of each skein. I am working on a second hat and have enough yarn for more hats.

This is a fun, colorful hat. If you go to the Wisconsin Badger State Winter Games in Wausau in January 2009, look for this hat.

Now I am off to finish a second hat for his teammate, in a different colorway, same pattern.

I added a multicolored tassel to the hat which is not pictured. My son wanted the tassel added. Other male members of the family had on previous occasions indicated a concern that a tassel might be considered too feminine. I reported that I have seen pictures of Vladimir Putin wearing a hat with a tassel. That seemed to sell it as something a “tough guy” might wear. Lot’s of psychology goes into this knitting gifts activity. :-)
