Notes

This shawl was woven to be worn in New Haven, CT’s Long Wharf Theatre production of “Old Masters” and will be worn by actor Sam Waterston in his portrayal of Bernard Berenson, a famous art historian from the early 1900’s. The last two pictures are what I was working from to recreate the shawl.
The yarn from Harrisville was as always sticky on the loom but blooms beautifully on washing. The draft was a straight twill tie-up woven at 12 epi and 12 ppi. It came out cozy and yet “antique”. I simply felted the fringe and washed it in slightly warm water to make sure it was well bloomed and soft.
