The pattern called for a G hook, but this created a VERY tight mitten. I went all the way up to a J to create the perfect fit! I’d suggest using a smaller hook for the ribbing to make it less holey.
The pattern is in rounds, but requires turning (it’s sort of like working the mitten in rows, but joining them every roung) which I don’t like very much at all.
I didn’t make the heart applique because I don’t think it really adds to the mitten. I was just looking for a very basic crochet mitten pattern, and went with this one.
They turned out very nice. My only regret is that one of them is two rows shorter than the other (I miscounted early on, before the thumb, of my second mitten and didn’t realize until too late). I doubt anyone but me will notice, so I will let my minor disatisfaction slide.
