USA HOOK SIZE #6

My notes:
Rnd 8: I slp st in 8th dc, not 7th

Rnd 10, very possible to have the count off, just be sure the first sc is over the 2dc post of the first hole. So, if you look at the pic on the pattern, you’ll see that there is a hole on each end of the bump that does not have a loop on it.

I didn’t realize this thread was size #5, not 10, so the stitches should be less bulky than mine are turning out. Mine may be more wavy than the original and I wonder if I should have used even a larger hook. The thread calls for 3.25mm (D-3). But I didn’t realize it was that large a thread and started with 7, ripped that out and moved on to a size 6 hook. This thread is a nightmare the way it keeps kinking up.

I love the idea of this sparkly white thread BUT it is kind of a stretchy feeling, and I fear it will never really lay like a doily. It is such a lovely snowflake doily though, I do want to make it.

JAN19, 2018: Never stop this in the middle of a rnd, because it’s hard to get the ending right, as the solid patch of sc is where the row ends, and the next begins. I had to rip out some of what I had, because I could no longer how the sequence and row end/beginning happened, and I just needed to start back to where the first row of ch 5 loops came off the large loops of 25.

RND 14: Pattern is missing the 3sc in the beginning of the rnd, that comes right after the chain loops. I had a lot of trouble with having the count off by 1 in the solid chain area, but it could be this sparkly thread that is a bear to see the sc. So, I just added one on the end, after checking it several times and still coming up short. You probably won’t have that problem. I finally finished this round satisfactorily, and am nervous about the last rnd, that is beautiful and so hard looking….

I do not believe it would be this warply if it weren’t for this thread with the foil wrap, that causes it to feel elastic and want to pull together. I just hope it will block out, because it is truly beautiful thread.

March 5, I have done 4 of the 8 points in the last rnd (15). Whenever you make one of the long chains that you drop off the hook and then go into a dc top and catch the loop again, then you fill it with whatever stitches it asks for, THEN do a slip st to help stabilize it to the original dc it started off of, before proceeding with the next batch of instructions. I only have 4 left, but will see if I can sleep, if not, I’ll get back up and do them. I didn’t seem to be able to fit in 3 picots at the mid-point between the tall rings, but instead just put a picot, sc and another picot.

It is done, and although I never block or stiffen any work, I made an exception with this one because of the horrid stretch thread and also the long tips that roll around. It is looking good on the towel and I hate that it spent 10 years as a UFO as I avoided it. The pattern is actually sheer genius and I love how the design comes about.
