Ladybug Lines pattern, this link takes you to blueprint, which has the free pattern. I don’t know for sure hot to get around there, as I got it when it was craftsy. She also has a needle tat tutorial that goes to Blu print also.

UPDATE: It appears her links error out, I’m not sure if it all fell thru when craftsy turned into bluprint, or if she just isn’t there anymore. :(

I had just begun to learn shuttle and needle tatting and was happy to see a simply stitch doily that I could practice needle on. I usually tat with a shuttle, but I was glad I did this because I nearly forgot all I knew about needle tatting. It is looking pretty good, and the thread is At Lydia, which is producing a softer project, and also size 10, which does not have the result of shuttle tatting, nor thinner more body thread. BUT, I am enjoying refreshing my mind on how to do needle tatting, so I’m having fun :)

RND 2: ACCORDING TO THE PATTERN PICTURE, THIS SHOULD HAVE A 6TH PICOT & 2 MORE DS**
I discovered this, too late, when I started rnd 3 and the rings were to attach to the 2nd and 4th picot of the chains in rnd 2, with a picot on each end and 2 in the middle. I only have 5 so will have to have a picot on each end and 1 in the middle. If I ever make this again, I will use the extra stitches from the picture.

RND 3: I don’t know if my doily would have felt more even if I had done the 6th picot, like the pic, instead of following the written directions for 5 picots on the chains. But at any rate, the rings overlapped a bit, so I just spaced it out and connected all picots except 3 times around and it seemed to be just right. So that little opening allowed the round to spread or close up more, whatever it needed.

So rnds 4 & 5 are repeats of 2 & 3, and this time I am adding the 6th picot on rnd 4! I got about 4 rings and chains done and realized I had attached to the wrong side! I thought about ripping it out but decided not to, and to make it a little more uniform I am reverse tatting the rings, so the rest will have their picot bands correct, except the joining one at the top :(
