Notes

I believe the pattern is using the instruction “repeat 5 more times”(do it then repeat it 5 more times), when she actually means (…)x5. If you are ending up with 14dc and 7 spc, it is because of this problem.

Rnd 4 & the rest of snowflake:
I’m doing beginning shell, then shell in shell, rather than dividng the first 2 dc from the 2nd 2 dc in each shell.

This center is quite lovely, it would make wonderful snowflakes of large size for tree and window (clear suckers with hooks for large window)

Mar, 15, 2019 I had no trouble thru the hats and heads, till the last rnd, and then just a little. I find the stitches are not covering my 11sc chains well enough to keep the 11sc chain from showing thru a little. So I have added a few stitches to make my chains firm and full of stitches over them, your mileage may vary:

(slst, 2sc, hdc, 2dc, hdc, 2 sc,
ch 3, 2 sc, hdc, 2dc, hdc, 2sc, slst)]

RND 18 You start with a chain 3 in the beginning to get the height up, That ch3 floats off the end of the last chain you just made. Then do 27(not 23) more dc, which should use up all the dc from each head in rnd 17. Rows 17 and 18 each have 28 stitches in the brim of each hat. That makes 28 st x 6 hats = 128 dc in rows 17 & 18. I took a close up of the brim with flash, so you could see between them and see what was going on. Close up of brim is in picture, so you can see how the count should actually be 27.

I also found I had 1 too many dc for the last rnd of the snowmen heads, having one dc left over. On looking at the directions, I see it ends with 2 slp st, but only has 1 sl st in the beginning. So I started with 2, just like it ends, and the count ended exactly then. So, I changed the first line of rnd 26 to:
R26: Slst into next 2dc,

Mar 16, 2019 - crocheting done. Used half water and half liquid starch and it is blocked to dry now. Next, will need faces, which is still in the decision making process. Must go to Walmart and see what other things might work for the features. I like what I have, but don’t know if I can get more of them, I’ve had them awhile… and I need enough for 6 faces.

March 18, 2019 - I didn’t have enough sequins in the same color to finish my faces, and finally made it to Walmart last night, and after an hour of searching in 3 different places in the store, was able to get enough to do finish the faces. Oh my gosh! I have 3 faces done, and believe me, the stick on jewels is not a breeze! Sometimes the glue spot on the back stays on the paper, sometimes the jewel flips across the room! Setting them down in just the right spot, can be tricky! 4 down, 2 to go, and I’m shaking like a leaf from the effort! The snowflakes on the hat is the easiest, as I remembered I had a box of a roll of sticky dots, which worked great for them, at least! I also painted a coat of clear finger nail polish with opalescent sparkles in it, onto the flakes. I am sitting at the computer right now, as I’m literally worn out from the precision of doing this, much harder than I thought it would be! Pic coming soon!
