eek! It’s already been 2 months since I started and forgot this! I hope my notes will be enough to help me find where I left off, so I don’t have to start over!
RESTART JAN 8, 2015

Thought it was coming out too short, so restarted with size 3 needles, but did not pull out the 34 rows I did with size 2, just incase. So started from the other end of the ball of yarn.

Used #1 needles for waist decreases, then back to 3.

MY NOTES:
If the waist ribbing is an uneven number and must be:
ROW 32: P1 K1
ROW 33: K1 P1
ROW 34: P1 K1

ROW 49: You actually have to K9(not 8) before casting off, or you will end up with a different amount of stitches on each side, because the last st you knit becomes part of the cast off, and you lose it. It then appears on the other side as the last cast off, making 1 st too many st (9) on the last side and one st less (7) on the beginning side. So just K9 before starting the cast off in pattern, will keep 8 st on each side of the shoulders.

Apparently I have already done row 50, as I started there and find my fabric reversed. So, take out a few small rows on the shoulder and start with row 51.
So… last night I kept having to restart because I forgot how to tell which side I was on for knitting and purling and kept starting and getting a wedge in the middle of my stockinette. After many false starts I got the first shoulder done to row 66.
WED 28th morning I awake and re-read my notes here on needle sizes and realize I’ve been knitting with the smaller one, when I was supposed to change back to #3. I am thankful that in 2014 I put a lifeline in right afer the last waist row, because that’s how far I had to rip back! I’m not using #3 Boyle Balene II dbl pt needes, because they are not too long, and these don’t slip like the metal ones do.

So this re-start took me back to row 35!

Natalie’s dress is nearly done! It should be done already, but I kept having to take out the same last few rows today. The side where she is waving is finally seamed together - wow that took a long time. The other arm and dress seam still need seaming, and she needs her collar, maybe the ribbon from the pattern. I am wondering about having different accessories that could actually work on any dress…. like maybe a lace collar, tiny buttons, a rib of lace down the front, different colors / types of ribbons. Anyone else have different looks for the same dress? I noticed that i had a small piece of leftover crewel embroidery yarn that matched her hair ribbon laying on my desk and just quickly made a whimsical bow for her pic. If this last side is anything like the first side, I expect it will take me all day tomorrow to seam up. SO CLOSE TO BEING DONE!

Started sewing the sleeves together last night, and kept ending uneven, so stopped at underarm and picked it back up today, Oct 3. Finished this evening, a lot of trouble matching the length of dress body after the sleeves and hem. I’m now working on some lace for the neck & sleeves.
Tatting: size 80 thread
R:, 6p / 2ds
Ch: 3p / 2ds now I’m not sure if I did 2 or 3 ds grrr….
