Notes

Pattern calls for USA needles 1 & 2, I used the smaller needle, size 1, because my Bernat yarn (for dress) was a little more dense than Twinkle DK.

I know how to cast off, but always as a complete row finish. When I tried to cast off in the middle of the row, I found it moved my stitches over and threw my count off for each section. I finally searched for “casting off in the middle of a row” on youtube, and found that you did the beginning number of stitches, but when the cast off starts, you have to knit 2, to keep the cast off from swallowing one of your stitches! Then when the cast off is over, that left over stitch goes into the stitch count of the next section.

I need to see if walmart has tiny buttons and make a diaper, hat, booties, and sweater from the snow baby book.

The booties called for the smaller USA 1 needles, but since it is the denser yarn, again, I went 1 size smaller than it asks for, size 0.

In this case, I wanted the colors of the dress to show, so ended up folding the button bands inside, to show more dress. If one knew ahead of time they were going to do that, then they could leave off the 3 could eliminate the button band stitches, decreasing their st count, and make the next set of 3 stitches into the button band.

SWEATER: From Snowbabies book, middle green swtr on cover. row 1, the k2tog is the stitches that come together under the arm, to join the front and back.

HAT: size 2 needles with Twinkle Mint. I’m not really fond of the shape of this hat, but it’s done, so so am I! I’m still up so I usually count this as the day it was, if I’ve not been to bed yet, in reality, it is 2 hourse into Christmas slightly_smiling_face
