It’s done! I finished it last night just as the sun was setting and had to skip dinner to do it. The groovyghan is now officially part of my crochet past. I love it, but am onto the next thing.
You can read my final post about this project (if you so choose) here. The post includes links to patterns for all of the gee-gaws I made to totally trick it out.

I posted a photo of the groovyghan at my facebook page which noted that the groovyghan was nearly complete except that it needed a border. One of my friends from forever disagreed; the general concensus was that borders of any sort are antithetical to the groovy spirit. In light of the pretty much unanimous opinion that there should be NO BORDERS, I am rethinking how I will treat the edges and have and idea that I think just might do the trick, both framing the piece, and at the same time would not technically be a border but more of an invitation to join in all things groovy.

As of yesterday, I have the five main panels of the groovyghan completed. I now need to finish joining the panels, make the border, and add some bells and whistles that I think will make it truly over the top.

I finally got started on the “Stripe Strip” and am going to get the first round of the granny squares done while I wait for my son’s choir rehearsal to end. I have fantasies of finishing this on Thursday and surprising my mom with it.

I just started on the flower motif for this afghan and my mom’s birthday is today, so she’s not getting this anytime soon. I have turned my attention to a bag that I am going to felt and give to her on Friday.
The colors I am using are Red Heart Super Saver cherry red, shocking pink, pumpkin, bright yellow, spring green, delft, and dark orchid.

I am, as usual, working from my munificent stash of Red Heart Super Saver. I am going to give this to my mom for her birthday, even though I really want to keep it for myself.
