Used 11 strands of mixed weight yarns, inspired by Rachel John’s work ( see some on YouTube), that we saw at Wonderwool Wales yesterday. Cast on 16 stitches, knit st/st until long enought to cover the front and back of cushion. Did garter stitch for a few rows, incorporating 2 button holes. Decided I like the reverse side best, and joined sides using 2 of the thicker threads and chained with an 8mm crochet hook. When put together, I didn’t have buttons to hand but I did have some ribbon - so I used that instead, and then for good measure, poked a length of the cut yarn tail through between the ribbons. Yay - a cushion in a couple of hours. I’m really happy with it.
