I changed the ratio of stitches picked up for the button band, the ratio I used was 3:4. It didn’t make sense to pick up one stitch for every row in the button band area…and it turned out I was happy with my change! I still picked up one stitch for each row in the shawl collar, between first marker and the last.

On pockets: Next time I will knit these as I go.

On elbow patches: These are more complicated than one would think. I mean, they are adorable, but there is no placement advice in the pattern, so I was lost. I ended up folding my arm and discovering that my forearm is almost the same length as my arm…so I folded the sleeve and put the patches just about in the middle. I centered the patches on the back of the sleeve.
