I knitted in the small size, though since my gauge was a bit larger, it’s measuring closer to the medium size. I also made the body an inch longer longer based on other people’s notes and liking a longer body in general. On the sides, I seamed so that the side ribs overlapped, so only an inch of purl shows on each side. I felt this gave a better appearance, the sleeves lined up better, and also gave a great place to hide my ends.
