Notes

1.22.10
Purchased about 1/4th of the yarn I am going to need last night!

I bought the pattern this morning and worked out the design and colors all afternoon. I can’t wait to get started! I know its going to be a lot of work, but there is no rush or deadline so I am going to work on other projects as well to avoid Babette burnout.

1.23.10
got 10 squares done! I am using the both chainless techniques for same color rounds and changing rounds. So far a good learning experience!

1.24.10
17 2-rounds and one each of 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 rounds done. Plus 10 inside rounds.
Changed over to a hdc for the first round of the 2 rounds squares so I may need to go back and redo the first batch of 6 that I did as dc.

1.31.10
Done with about 27% of the squares, so far I have all the ends woven in for the small squares and have 16 of those to go. I ordered more yarn online on friday but I think I will run out of yarn before I get more. That will give me a chance to start blocking and hopefully start sewing some together. I will move on to the larger square soon, hopefully those will go quicker!

2.2.10
At 39% of squares completed. Some of my yarn is on back order, unfortunately. I need to start blocking, but not sure where to begin, as I have never blocked anything before!

2.6.10
At 53% of squares done. I ended up ordering a blocking board because self healing mats wont work. I read they wouldn’t work but I was being stubborn and though that I could push the pin in far enough to make them stay. Not so. More yarn arriving on Tuesday, I’m using up the last of what I have left. I started sewing the small ones in 4’s, and I will block those to match 4-round square size.

2.15.10
88% done with squares. I got my blocking board last friday and started blocking but its taking a while since its a small board and the squares take a while to dry since its winter. I’m trying to block pieces that are in the same area together so I can start piecing it together. I am hoping to be done by early march! :)

2.23
I can’t believe I started this project just one month ago, it seems like a lot longer. Blocking is slowing everything down, but the sewing is going quite slow too. I have about 1/4th of the blanket sewn together. The squares are just about all done, I am just missing 5 of the small ones and the last round of one 12 rounder.

3.23
Seaming went slow because its so tedious and I was busy with other projects, but… Its finally in one piece. I just need to add the border and its DONE!

11.02.10
FINALLY!!! Finished while watching the election news about Jerry Brown being elected as a new governor (hence the name). A little more than a month to crochet up the squares, and 8 months to finish a border. I my defense I started knitting, I was burned out with all that crocheting, and it was hot out. Too hot to crochet with a blanket over you.
