12shawls2013 # 7

This yarn is a gift from dear Lotta (enugu). The yarn was specifically hand dyed by Lotta for me in the color of lilacs:-)) Gorgeous color and yarn. I am so lucky to be the recipient of such generous gift :-))
Pictures of the yarn and of Lilacs are by Lotta :))

I was thinking of a name for a shawl and just goggled “Lotta’s lilacs” and I could not believe that there is actually a lilac variety called “Lotta” :-))) You can find more information here. “Lotta’s Lilacs” is just a perfect name for this shawl in so many ways :))

I started working on this shawl design as soon as I could after receiving this gorgeous yarn. I wanted a feel of crocheted shawl and the pattern to remind of lilac flowers. After trying so many different lace patterns I finally happily knitting this shawl :)) Just a sneak pic for now ;-))

05.09.13
The shawl is done and blocking.
I used Miyuki 8/0 beads in color #4220 for the picot BO.

I am so over the moon with this shawl :-)) I took so many pictures today….just could not help myself :-))
I loved working on this shawl. This is a very interesting lace pattern to knit and I enjoyed it a lot. Beaded picot BO was new to me. It took about 2.5-3 hrs to do the BO, but was so worth it. I love it.
I love the shawl’s airy lacy look and I think my initial idea to design a shawl that looks like it’s been crocheted a bit and reminds one of lilacs little flowers was realized.
I can not thank Lotta enough for this gorgeous, gorgeous yarn :-))
Surprisingly the shawl took about half of skein. I do not have a scale at the moment, but will weigh when I have a chance to get the exact yardage.
This pattern is for intermediate and experienced knitters.

I wish I could take some pictures next to some lilacs, but in my 20 years living in San Diego I have never seen lilacs growing here.
I will try to take some pictures on me when I have a chance.

05.11.13
The pattern will be available after test knitting.
This pattern is for intermediate and experienced knitters. The stitich pattern is quiet easily memorized despite it’s complicated look, however the pattern progresses slowly and requires lots of attention. The pattern is on both RS and WS. The lace instructions are both charted and written.

06.09.13
The pattern is now available :-)

Blogged here.
