11shawls2011 #9

08.17.11 This is going to be a sideways knitted shawl/scarf. I am using this wonderful yarn from Japanese company Noro called Maiko.
The yarn remained me of how much a love animation of Hayao Miyazaki and I want to name this project “Spirited Away”, which is the name of one of the Miyazaki’s movies. Some of the main themes in this and many other Miyazaki movies are pollution and ecological problems. I will be using leaves and branches containing pattern in this project, so the name of the project seems appropriate to me :-))

08.30.11 The shawl was mostly knitted and finished in beautiful settings of Huntington Lake and Mono Hot Springs. Therefore, the name of the project seems even more so appropriate to me now :-))
I am very happy with the result and got carried away with lots of pictures ;-)) The shawl can be worn as a shawl or wrapped around as a scarf. I see myself wearing this shawl a lot during colder months :-))
