It’s knitted…It’s crocheted…It’s easy…it’s hard…It’s an insanity sweater that is all swirled up in my mind and about to be vomited out of my hooks and needles.

In the future: I used 49 stitches at the arms-that was the perfect sleeve circumference for me-which means next time I probably wont do those extra cast ons as called for-as a little less wide would have been OK too. Overall I am SUPER pleased with this sweater, and the pattern was fabulous-I’m still a newb-only been knitting about a month and a half….for the bottom edge I did stockinette because I wanted to slowly bind off one side so I could get the diagonal hem.

June 18: I have a few of the little swirlie motifs done and have begun the knitted portion of the sweater. I plan on mostly having the sweater being knitted, I do prefer knitted garments over crochet-but I wanted to have some freeform feel to the edgings with my crochet swirlies. We shall see how it goes. This is my first raglan type knitted sweater. (using the Brick pattern size small as a guide).

June 20: Managed to bang out a big chunk of the sweater, even got to try it on and it looks like a sweater. DD said, “That blob actually turned into something?” haha! Looks a mess on the needles though! I am now thinking I want to attempt my first colorwork (if that is what it is called)-a design in color…BIRDS.
June 22: done with have the trim on bottom…. :) Still have the sleeves (which I am most scared about) and the neck trim. I need shorter circulars though…but I think I will have to make do without. Hubby hasn’t loved me enough yet and bought my set. :(
Later that day: I did finish the neckline, and I’m THRILLED with it. I cannot believe how this thing is really starting to look like a real sweater! :)

June 25: PIcked up some small circulars on my way to take dd to the orthodontist. What a difference it makes! I am zipping through the sleeve now and I’m not as grumbly! And this set is so nice, love the chord-far better than that cheap crap I had. ChaioGoo? Love love love.

June 26: Ok, I frogged the first attempt at a sleeve with a bird (last photo) as I wasn’t really happy with how it turned out. SOoooo I blasted my adobe photoshop and attempted to make my own graph of a bird, the way I envision it, how it will look on the sleeve. I will start today at dd’s karate and see how it goes. :)

June 28: Ok, apparently changing colors is more complicated than I thought. I’m now trying to do it using the intarsia method and it is turning out much better. Thank GOD because I don’t think this could handle a third frogging. UGGH!

June 29: I actually finished a sleeve. I was happy with the result and have decided to start the other one-hopefully very soon. I want this sucker done already! haha! I’m glad I perfected the whole color thing! :)
