Update: I had to decrease sc around the neck because after wearing this a few times I didn’t like how open it was. I put a row of sc around the neckline-putting 1 sc around each dc side post over the shoulders and I went: (sc, dec) around in each dc for the front and back. (Shown in very last photo which is a crappy pic because dd was having a rough morning and not wanting to take mom’s photo). I plan on adding one more round of rsc as well, but as of yet that is not done.
4-7-14: I used fsc for first round. Do NOT fear the stitch markers-I thought I would have to do some serious matching up later on-turns out they are just used to help make the following row much easier, just place the markers and don’t fret.
My yarn store didn’t have the kind of yarn the pattern called for, I was able to get gauge with this-my first time ever actually trying to get gauge, I usually wing stuff. I love this yarn so far! :) At first, I really wanted to try to get close to the color in the magazine, but I never wear stuff with white in it on myself so I figured why not deviate and go a little color crazy-better suits me.
So far, this is a fun little pattern, I’m 3/4 done with the back, and there are some rows that require a little attention and then some dummy rows, and I like that blend of mindless/mindful crochet. :)
4-8-14: Just finished the back and posted a pic-I really like how this is coming together, it is a FUN pattern. I really am enjoying it. I like how this yarn is looking as well. I am already planning on making anther in different colors as well. :) Now back to my hooking!
I didn’t bother trying to match up the colors-this one was pretty wonky as far as really long colors-I don’t think I’d ever have gotten them to match up….The seams don’t look that bad even if they don’t match up, kind of gives it a little more of an oddball look. Can’t wait to do it in another color.
My only regret was that the back was not the front because I liked how those colors flowed better-next time if I like the back I’ll just switch to the front directions (it only varies on the very top and you work bottom up).
