Update: Apparently these are in high demand. As soon as I posted a picture of him, my aunt claimed him. Then I had requests. Lots of them. Um…Gonna have to wait folks, I’m busy!

Update to update: My aunt is coming tomorrow. Normally, I would rejoice as she brings my grammy and we all go to eat Chinese. Good times….only this time, it is rather sad. She will be taking home my pheasant. :( I’ve grown accustomed to having him hanging from the little deer head coat rack by my back door…So I went and bought more yarn and plan on making more of these guys. :)

Perfect superbowl project. I got all the way done with the body and one wing part of three. I wish the pattern would have clearly stated what color was what letter, as it was I got all Inspector Gaget like and realized the colors (when you begin the body) start at the beak and end at the butt.

I didn’t have any fancy schmancy yarn, and I had to guess that the yarn I was supposed to use was bulky, so I got McGyverish and used two strands together. I get piles of yarn from people when their old relatives that played with yarn die or move to homes, so I brought out the ‘death bag’ and got some interesting yarns to use. I also used some lionbrand heartland (for the blue and red) and caron simply soft for the beak and neck ring. I also used one strand of caron with teh one strand of super virgin wool for the body and one strand of some fluffy half wool and the virgin wool for the top of the wings. I’m going to crochet the feet though.

This will be a gift for Lou, who took my son pheasant hunting for the first time ever. My son shot his first pheasant with the first shot he shot that day. He’s a good shot apparently! :) Too much airsofting and paintball me thinkst! (Lou is gonna have to wait. My aunt is stealing this one)
