UPDATE: FINALLY was able to obtain those fancy schmancy (but not so fancy) play mats-scored 2 for $3 at Five below. I bought a motherload-I have no idea why I’d need that many, but it is better to have them and not need them than need them and not have them! It is now officially drying. EEK!
Update to update: first two photos are after wet blocking. LOVE IT!
Still have yet to wet block it-this is just steam blocked, but I love it!
It is high time I attempt something lacy. I’ve pooped in my pants over the terror of it all.
Time to kick those turds out the door and knit my fears away!
1-29-15: Still working on the stockinette portion, and I love how it is coming together-it is always so much fun to make something that is constructed differently than you are used to. Very interesting. I did, however, run into the tragic issue of a yarn over crossing over three times. Crap. I considered frogging it, but I said, ‘aww hell, I’ll wing it’ so I’m going to just put a few stitches in and keep on truckin’. I’ve now separated that center stitch (the problem child) by two stitch markers. I’d only had one before, but one on either side seems to work well for kids that do not want to play well with others. ;)
Started the lace portion now, and I quite like it! I’m still hating on reading from charts, so I am writing it all down in words for myself, it is far easier for me that way. :) I do wish the chart showed the garter edge as well.
1-31-15: It is taking a while to get through the lace as I have to write it all down before starting ever row. Uggh. I hate reading from charts. I like them for visual reference, but not for knitting from. I’m really happy with how it is looking so far though and can’t wait to finish. On row 30 now. :)
