Notes

Ok first three pics show after I steamed and stretched this little sucker. PERFECT. WHY didn’t I do this a long time ago??!!!! I SWEAR that the first three pics are of the SAME exact hat as the last pics. Amazing what blocking does!! I decreased differently, notes reflect this:

I needed a little break from creating my own thing, and want to just relax using someone else’s written pattern. I’ve completed my second cable already and so far the pattern is spot on. Easy to read. My only complaint is that the written instruction for the bobble is only a link (I’m lazy and prefer it to be written for me) but I think I fudged it enough with what I think I know about them without having to do any research.

I did the decreases a bit differently to add length and a more gradual decrease to the hat. I am glad I did because it still isn’t as slouchy as I feel it should have been. I’m going to type up my decrease sections and ask the designer if it would be OK to post them in case anyone wants to do it the way I did-have to ask because the instruction for that gives a way a bit of the pattern.

That silly thing I’m holding is a wasp nest…it broke off our tree and that piece was heart shaped. cool!

This pattern gets dbird’s two talons up!
got the go ahead for the decrease notes:

  13. (P 2, K 2, P 2, K 2)
  14. (p2tog, K 2, p2tog, K 2) Cut yarn leaving long tail, thread through all remaining stitches and pull closed. If I make this again (which I think I may) I will bump up to a bigger needle for the actual hat portion-just to make it a little more slouchy and so it wants to slouch-it’s pretty stiff as is. I think adding another few rounds wouldn’t hurt as well…And heck, a giant pom pom could be fun as well!

UPDATE: I have given this to my niece. She is in heaven and loves it ever so much!
