9-12-14: Ok, so the pattern appears to be pretty complex-I’m not in the mood for complex (no way will I remember to magically put in a buttonhole) after coming off my sceathers marathon. Sooooo I am modifying it to better suit my style. In the round with the pattern beginning under the bust. We shall see. :) (basically I don’t want to do something complicated so I’m going to complicate it more by modifying. duh)

Later that day….I have done the first 28 rows (which shall be all my increases) I joined to work in the round after row 20. I also omitted doing the K4 at the beginning of the purl rounds-I plan on picking up stitches and doing a ribbed neckline or crocheted…not sure yet.

9-14-14: Ok I followed the increases as written and I joined after row 20. I then continued to do the raglan increase until round 34. This was when I figured my arms were wide enough and started to divide for the sleeves. (if you want your back part to be more of a point-make sure your stitch count for the front and back combined are multiples of six-but an odd multiple. If you have an even multiple you will get a more rounded instead of a more pointed spot where the pattern meets in the back. :)

(this is where I changed my mind and decided I wanted the lace to start in the middle of my bust--hoping that the major of the wide part will be a bit lower…

Now I placed my SM 3 stitches off from the center of the top and began my first row of the krydda lace (only the parentheses part) I will follow that for 8 rounds and then begin my next round 6 stitches away from the SM and begin the krydda lace and repeat that three times…It is also helpful to place a SM at the end of the lace repeats because I keep wanting to keep going with the lace pattern (it’s fun). So I have a SM at the beginning and the end-just remember that every time I start again on row 1 of the lace to add an extra repeat at the beginning and an extra at the end, moving the SMs each time. :)

Good lord I hope I know what I am doing.

Later that day: THANK GOD it is turning out! :) phew!

9-15-14: Got a lot accomplished at dd’s dermatologist appt today. I was able to get the pattern to reach all the way around! whohoo! Now that I have done so I am adding a little notation to the top portion regarding beginning numbers in the top/back pieces.

9-16-14: After I made the kyddra lace completion around the entire sweater I continued repeating until I got to 4” from where it met in the back and have begun the garter rounds. Can’t wait to bind it off and try it on! :)

I’ve spent some more time looking at this pattern and am really glad I went the way I did. I don’t know if I’m just used to crocheted patterns telling you everything you need to do or what, but this thing seems awfully complicated-I don’t have any idea what on earth those short rows are about and I don’t like that I ‘d have to remember to stick in the buttonholes-No way would I remember that detail-I can only imagine the cussing that would happen if I messed that up!

9-18-14: Dd has informed me that she likes this sweater and wants it. Hold the phone! If this is DD approved it must be a winner. She is one tough critic! ;) I am halfway done with the first sleeve (I hate sleeves).

9-19-14: managed to get the first sleeve done and halfway done with the second. DD has changed her mind…which is good because I want it! mauahah!

All done! :) I did a rsc around the neckline though-I was pleased with how it was and I didn’t want to add a lot of height to it with garter stitch around. :)

Sleeves: I picked up a few extra stitches on the body and then did 22 rounds of Knit as follows:
(all decreases (I used k2tog) are in the center of the armpit)
round 14: 1 dec
round 16: 1 dec
round 19: 1 dec
round 22: 2 dec

Round 23 began my krydda lace pattern-I repeated it 7 times but added some decreases as follows:

after 2nd repeats 2 decreases
3rd repeat row 2: 1 dec
4th repeat row 6: 1 dec
5th repeat row 4: 2 dec
6th repeat 1st row: 2 dec

Then I did 6 rounds of garter stitch

I am not giving this pattern a star rating because I feel that it would be a lie. I couldn’t figure it out-but I only taught myself to knit in May. Maybe, someday, I will knit this as written, and if I do, I will rate it then. :)
