For the ribbing I did (ktbl, p1)
I did a regular old long tail cast on-why? Because I stink at following directions. I actually was looking forward to learning a new cast on…but then got so excited to start I forgot about it. bahaha!
I made not the largest but second to largest size…fits both dd and myself perfectly
This yarn is NOT worsted as listed here on Rav-it is sport yarn or baby yarn. Not even close to worsted.
So ya, I’m with everyone else saying that these are fiddly stitches-I don’t like having to cable just about every stitch in a round every other round…buuuutttt this is a cute hat so I’m gonna suck it up buttercup. I am actually doing the needless cable method for this-I wasn’t going to but when I realized there were this many cables I said, “Aww hell no!” It really isn’t that bad if you do it that way…still not as quick as a straight knit-but if you want it to be perdy you gotta put in the time!
I am doing the second to largest size for a size 21 head…looks like I’m pretty on point as far as it going to fit well. Very excited about that part.
Alright, so I really like this hat. The dropping stitches was FUN! I don’t know why this pattern has a lower rating…It is written perfectly-there was zero confusion-ZERO. Ya, the cables are obnoxious but there is full disclosure. This is a 5 star pattern. Period.
Second to last photo shows how it looks before pulling the dropped stitches out…The last photo shows half of them pulled out and the other half still to go. When I was all done I stretched the hat lengthwise and it just looks fabulous I will get better pics tomorrow.
Ok, so I just want to say again that this hat is so perfect. the fit is amazing-long enough for a decent slouch (so many of them end too short or don’t fit the crown) I really actually enjoyed learning the cables without a cable needle technique.
