Totally didn’t want to buy another pattern, but couldn’t pass this one up….Good lord is it amazing. This shall be a sweater….I’ll have to find a decent yarn

I think I found a good modification sweater…we shall see…fingers, talons and wings crossed!

So, before I got yarn I wanted to test it out on some scrap yarn. Oh my God! This is very challenging, but so exciting as well. All these new things are making my head explode but I am very excited! Wicked cool pattern :-)

I’ve become a bit obsessed with this pattern. I stalked the comments on it and was a bit concerned about people complaining about the price. Good lord. Don’t buy it then. Here’s the deal. Designing something can be really easy….and it can be really hard. Making a pattern in a way others can follow can be just as easy or fifty million times as hard. Ina has done a phenomenal job in taking some mind blowing techniques and making it understandable (it is still complex and a very complicated knit). Every cent is well spent if you want to make this pattern.

This sweater is going to be my pallet cleanse after the busy holiday season. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect project.

I went to the yarn store. Don’t get me started. I HATE MY LYS. I made a little rant on Instagram about the stress I have before I walk in. Anyhow, I used ALL my gift card money on a crap load of yarn. I think I’m going to do this in a light grey so it really shows off the dragon, even though I bought a lovely jade shade as well.

So, I screwed up with my gauge (idk wtf I was thinking ahahaha) and the dragon will be further down on the panel than I had planned-so this is going to be the back panel. I think I’ll add a row of owls at the top to make it look like it was on purpose haha! I mean, I AM dragonBIRD ya know. ;) The front will get recalculated for a better placement. I’m LOVING watching this dragon come to life. It is so exciting. I’m looking forward to seeing his pretty little head! :)

I put a little boomerang of my progress so far on facebook-had a pretty good reaction to it-this is such a brilliant cable pattern, I can’t get over it!! I need another brief break for making another cap for someone diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. :( This is the second hat in two weeks. F%#& Cancer! I did complete one sleeve, and I’m THRILLED! I wanted to do an owl at the top, I thought repeating owls would be stupid, so I picked a cable pattern that looked like it might flow into an owl nicely. Thank gawd that worked out, all the time I was worried the sleeve wouldn’t set right into the arm holes because I’ve modified it so heavily!! YEAH!!! Just a fudge here and a tweak there and it worked!

OMG IT IS DONE! I must block it though, and then the big reveal!!!! YEAHH!!!!!!!! WHAT a stresser this was-I had to modify that sweater pattern as I went because of my gauge issues, so that, combined with the cable pattern really was slow going…..but it all worked out in the end!! YIPPEEEEE

I was a little leery blocking this. I wound up hand washing it and then chucking it in the dryer on low. That worked fine, so I think that is how I shall wash it just to be safe. I will be taking some more photos eventually, after my paper mache life-size juvenile dragon is complete!
