Test knit for eri

Mods: my gauge is a bit loose, so I’ve switched to a 3.25mm needle after finishing the woven stitch on the yoke (I couldn’t face unravelling it ). I’ve knitted the yoke to 8.25” (rather than 8”), and I know I’ll have to knit the body a couple of inches longer (actually I’ve knitted to 14.5” rather than 12”, before starting the bottom hem). Also I’ve followed the instructions for the medium size for the sleeves (after picking up sts for the small size), decreasing to 66 sts, and I’ve added an inch to the length before starting the cuff. Note that my use of the Habu Mohair Kusa is pushing subtlety to the max…

7.11: finished and blocking and omg, I love how this looks! Subtle details… a delicate hint of mohair… the beautiful light fabric created by the ECY BFL… the wonderful milky-green ‘Orkney’-themed hand-dyeing… the interesting use of the woven stitch pattern to ‘gather’ the fabric, like smocking, especially at the cuffs (this shows up better if you enlarge the photos). And how the hecky thump did I manage to not come across the Yarn-less Bind Off before? It’s inspiring in its simplicity and logic… a perfect finish to the woven fabric at the cuffs.

Really enjoyed knitting this, and it’s been a wonderful meditative salve over a tough couple of weeks. I will be able to think of my mother whenever I wear it. Thank you, eri, for including me in your band of test-knitters!
