I realised as I worked the raglan on this beautiful cardigan, that somehow my sizing/gauge was way off! So there has been a lot of stitches-on-to-waste yarn and trying-on-as-I-go involved to make sure the sizing is right. This has definitely been essential, as ripping back the mohair/silk is really not an option!

So what I’ve done is:

Body: followed the M size for the raglan as far as page 6, row 60. I’ve then increased on the sleeves only a further 2 times (alternate rows), thus knitting 64 rows. I have ended up with a stitch count of 361 (rather than 427 sts); and this has given me an armhole depth of 8.5”, the size I need. I’ve then separated body and sleeves and continued with the pattern as set. I’ve knitted to about 11” before knitting the hem (I want this quite short, almost cropped).

Sleeves: I’ve have 62 sts on waste yarn, then picked up 6 sts from underarm (total 68 sts). I’m decreasing 2 sts every 2” (about every 16th row) to 58 sts, then knitting to about 16”, with 2.5” twisted single rib (as per the bottom rib) for the cuffs.

FO: sooooo lovely, a dreamy wisp of romanticism! just perfect for a cooler summer day, over dress or jeans (or gym tee shirt and charity shop trousers lol). The Eldwick lace is the most beauteous of yarns… sigh
