Test knit for Johanna, finish date by 13.9.19

Mods:

Body: knitted to 11” before the bottom ribbing (though it still looks cropped on 5’ 8” me!).

Sleeves: I don’t want them too fitted so I’ve decreased to 59 sts, knitted them slightly longer than for my size (to 19”), then decreased at the cuff back to 48 sts (for the M2 size). Cuffs then knitted as per the pattern. Also: whilst knitting the sleeves on dpns, I’ve shifted the sts around slightly every other row to ensure I don’t start with a purl st on the needle - this is to avoid loose sts. I haven’t worked a 3-needle bind off for the cuff fold-backs, rather just whip-stitched them into place. I’ve worked single crochet around the thumb holes though, which gives a nice finish

Collar: knitted to 5.5” so that it’s more a high turtleneck than a polo… the yarn is so nice and crunchy, it holds this shape really well. Also: I didn’t do the Italian bind off, instead worked one row of brk1, p1, then worked a 1x1 ribbed cast off.

Update: I’ve worn this quite a bit since I finished it in May - yes, mitts in summer! It’s really comfortable, is actually quite light to wear, and goes really well over a tee shirt with jeans or whatever. The yarn is great: airy, crisp and wears well
