Notes

Sample knit for Victoria at Eden Cottage Yarns. My own version fits her really well, so I’ll knit it exactly the same with the mods I used. Using Steel as the MC.

Design: I didn’t mention in my other notes, but this pullover, even though it’s quite wide when you look at it flat, hangs beautifully from the shoulders; and that fabric that you think may be a bit bulky, really isn’t at all. This phenomenon is no doubt aided by the silk content of the Milburn, which is lovely and soft and even to knit with, but has that silk content to lend drape.

Also, on another tack, whilst working the shoulder construction on this, my second Separate Ways, I am reminded of how perfectly all the sections and stripes come together at the front v-neck, just on the right row - it’s just a brilliant piece of design engineering! heart_eyes+1

Halfway through: I’m certainly much happier with this version than with my first. I’ve made sure all the colour changes at the beginning of rows are much tidier and firmer: this has made picking up sts along that edge much neater. Also, as I essentially knitted a L size sleeve on my first version, I decided to make the armsyce slightly larger (depth 5.5” as the L size), then I will pick up 62 sts for the sleeve. And, as I’ve knitted the body a bit longer (15” before the ribbing), I’ve picked up sts for the vertical piece according to the instructions for the size that had a similar length (ie 274 sts); and I will allow 62 sts for the second sleeve when I cast off for the side seam (I also did this for my first version).

Yardage: 300gm used in total, ie 6 balls of Milburn.

25.5: all blocked and finished, posting off to Victoria today blush The ECY Milburn 4ply shades seem to work so well with this pattern - just love it! heart_eyes

28.5: Victoria just sent me a photo - and it looks great with her cut-offs! heart_eyeswink
