Before felting, it looked like a sweater. Now it looks kind of like a housepet. Floyd is wondering why we’ve invited another animal in.

I call this one my Jack Russell Terrier. The mohair has kind of wispy guard hairs over it. I think I will end up shaving this near the zipper to prevent snags. It’s pretty hysterical. Too weird to give away, but I can’t wait to wear it (not really a summer purse).

What’s also interesting is that the color band got a lot more subtle once felted. The mohair created a kind of haze that makes it all more blendy. I think it is actually nice this way.

I had this one’s zipper sewn at a local tailor shop. The first shop I went to rejected it (too thick) the second may have wished they did. They sewed in the zipper not square to the handles, so they had to redo their work.

I like this pattern, the knitting and the felting are dead easy, but the finishing (zipper, lining) are more work and hard for me (a non-sewer) to schedule).

• Separating brass zipper - ideally it would be a purse zipper, but those are hard to find in brass.
