Notes

Cast on 84 stitches with a size 7 circular.

I used the thistle for the cast on edge, alternating between long tail cast on for the K stitches and twisted German cast on for the P stitches.

Knit a doubled brim in K2 P2 ribbing, with a purl row for the edge.

Increased to 96 stitches after the ribbing ended. Switched to a size 9 needle.

Am seeing I need non-colorwork rows to give the eyes a way to see the individual colorwork rows.

I cribbed the colorwork band from the brim of Jared Flood’s Altair pattern. I did not replicate the colorwork at the crown.

I started centered decreases every other row at 6 points and switched back to the thistle color and size 8 DPNs to finish the top. I pulled the last 18 or so stitches together to close the hat.

I don’t like the color combo - the brown and the thistle are too close/not contrasty enough.
