This garter stitch project makes a great fabric - flat, no curling, stretchy. Lovely.

Hoping to get this done in time to give to my mother when we celebrate her Birthday later this month.

The color scheme feels a little 70s…trying to decide if that’s a good or a bad thing.

Mods:

• Only doing one color-changing yarn, the second color is “solid” beige.
• 7 pattern repeats instead of 8, wanted to make sure the scarf is long for my tall ma.
• Added 1 stitch at the beginning and one at the end of each row. Slipped the last stitch in each row knitwise to give a nicer selvege, inspired by Jenny74’s mods. Before the slipped stitch, I move the working yarn to the “front” so it is in position to knit the stitch once I turn the fabric.

I considered the icord selvege done by many other Ravelers, but I didn’t want to change the stretchiness of the garter stitch with a more tense edge.

Slowed down on the project when it was clear I wouldn’t make the July gift occasion! Now it’s a Christmas present….

Man, this project is taking forever. It is also boring to knit….I need to power through and get on to something more fun!

It is beautiful, tho, so it is worth it.

Almost there! Happy with the result and thinking towards the bind-off.

FINISHED!

Did a bind off in pattern, used a size 4 needle because I bind off tightly. Looks good. Will wash and block and I’m ready for Christmas. Whew!
