So a Jedi I know spent his birthday alone, responsibly social distancing but feeling pretty bummed about it. So I knit him a hat.

On his birthday I couldn’t take it to him without violating lockdown, so I ordered a cab on my card, gave the cabbie the address and my Jedi friend’s name, and placed the package on the back seat. Then I called my friend to meet the cab at the curb by his house. Except he wasn’t home, he had gone to the supermarket. I told him to get outside, and quickly called the cabbie and changed his destination. Stayed on the phone with the cabbie until I heard my friend accept the package.

He opened his gift when he got home, and yes, he loved it.

I followed the pattern pretty closely, except for the recommended floats. I can’t believe that I’ve never done the knitted-in brim - I like this, despite it being a bit fiddly I will probably do more hats like this. I left out the pompon, because I wasn’t sure if he likes them. (I was right, I offered to add one if he wanted, but he opted out.)
