12/26/2010 - I’m really enjoying knitting this. It’s great mindless TV knitting. I started it last night while watching The Sorcerers Apprentice with Sarah and her fam.
I HIGHLY recommend taking 3 minutes to watch this video. Knitting backwards saves a huge amount of time while making this, particularly while doing the corners.
12/27/2010 - New picture is the size after using one skein of yarn. I only bought 2 because I was going to make a wrap or something with this yarn, but then when I was scrolling through my queue I knew I had to make this throw. I know I should probably go pick up a few more skeins because it’s on sale right now.
I was going to cut the yarn to match the 2nd skeins color to where the 1st left off, but the center of my second skein was almost exact. yay!
12/28/2010 - 2 skeins down, new picture reflects the size. I need to go to the store tomorrow and pick up some more yarn.
01/31/2012 - I’m happy to say that this is finally finished! I tore all off my previous progress apart in November of 2011 and restarted it because I accidentally picked up every other stitch, which made the blanket all weird and lopsided. Now it’s perfect!
The blanket is a huge yarn eater, and even though I used I think 7 or 8 skeins of yarn, it’s still sort of on the small side. It’s the perfect size for laying on the couch so that’s where it’s new home is.
I took pictures of both sides, with and without the edging. I’m sure there is way better instructions out there on how people got their edges, but I just picked up through the front of each loop and ssk’ed them together with the last stitch on my working needle (hopefully that makes sense!)
Named this one Benedict after the oh so lovely Benedict Cumberbatch, I’m kind of in love with him.
