Notes

The yarn feels very rough - ‘rustic’, some would say - but apparently it softens up considerably when washed. It’s all Finnsheep, dyed with mushrooms. Handling it feels a lot like petting a sheep.

I’m making mittens out of these. I’ve never made mittens before.

I followed the pattern to the end and continued with the k4p1 pattern until my little finger was covered, and then I started the decreases.

I divided my stitches evenly on four needles, two needles for the front (I and II) and two for the back (III and IV). Then I decreased at the sides. I did a ssk at the start of I, a k2tog at the end of II, ssk at the start of III, k2tog at the end of IV.

I decreased on every other round, and then on every round for the last rounds to avoid a too pointy tip. When I had four stitches left, I pulled the yarn through them and finished.

For the thumb, I divided my stitches on three needles and continued knitting until I reached the tip of my thumb. Then I did a ssk at the start of every needle to the end and finished the last few stitches like I did with the body.

For the second thumb I did a k2tog at the end of the needle instead of the ssk.
