Notes

I bought this cashmere in natural for a Tiny Owls fairylights hat a few years ago. Love the yarn, but wanted a change so I dyed it Betsy Blue and am using it for this cowl.

Originally I was going to use the yarn for a Black Death. Great pattern, but not right for this yarn. When Gadabout was released, it seemed like the perfect thing. And, I already had the start of Black Death to use as my gauge swatch.

I don’t have quite enough yarn, but I’m hoping it all works out.

12-7-14: After casting on for the smaller size and doing the first repeat, I realized my gauge was off enough that it would be huge in width and I would run out of yarn. So I frogged and cast back on with just two pattern repeats, and we’ll see how that goes. I think these skeins must have run really short in weight (I need to go weigh them), because I barely go a repeat out of one skein. But this really is the perfect yarn for this pattern, so I’m going to see if I can make this work.

12-22: I had to set this aside to work on some Christmas gifts and just picked up back up. I love the pattern. It’s clever and fun. I would give it 10 stars instead of just five if I could. And I’m pretty pleased with it on cashmere. One note -- I cute the repeats down to 2 because mine was running big. In hindsight, I would have left the third repeat in and let it be a bulky, smooshy thang. But it’s lovely as is.

12-27: Finished this yesterday afternoon, despite a bad spell the previous day where I learned that engrossing conversation in a dark coffee shop with a good friend while cabling is not such a good idea. This is particularly true when you boldly pull the whole schmear off the needles and then try to put it back on the cabled row. It is blocking and I can’t wait to wear it. I also can’t wait to knit a full sized one. This is a great pattern!
