Notes

2-18-14: Burned the midnight oil redoing the cast off. It’s blocking again and is greatly improved, although getting all of the stitches back on correctly after taking out the cast off is not a pastime for the faint of heart.

2-17-14: After blocking, I still think the cast off may be too loose. I’m going to run by my local knit shop for some input, but I think my idea of cast off loosely, because my typical gauge is pretty loose, is way off scale.

2-16-14: Finished, but in need of some serious blocking. I knit very loosely, and was extra loose on the cast off to ensure enough give to block out the points. I may have gone overboard. Time will tell.

2-11-14: finished with the stockinette section and through the first lace pattern. I love this yarn. It feels great to knit with. As far as I can tell the knitters who talked about pattern errors in the second section have managed to get their changes incorporated into the pattern, so there are no longer any errors.

2-9-14: I’m about 1/3 of the way through the stockinette sections--this is good going for watching ice skating, as it doesn’t require too much attention. I love this yarn. No splitting at all, as so much wool/silk blends do.

2-7-14: Cast on and knit the first several rows during the opening ceremonies. This yarn is fantastic to knit with. The stockinette section will probably drag on for a bit, but I’m excited about the lace sections. I’m hoping to make some progress on this one early this week.

2-3-14: As soon as this yarn is dry, I’m going to wind it into a ball and pick out some needles so I’m all set to cast on on Friday for the state of the Ravellenic!

2-4-14: Note: I am on this row now and I believe the pattern to be correct and this Errata to be incorrect. I’m including it so that anyone looking this pattern later on will have the chance to see that this correction should not be made. The math comes out perfectly in version three of the pattern, which is the current upload, and my stitch count is dead on the pattern. quilterosie sent me some info about her Little Shells and a pattern mistake she found:

Lace Section2 Row 4 - Total stitches 149 (instead of 147)
Border Section - Row 5 (RS) k3, yo, k3, yo k2, yo, k5, yo, repeat from until 5 sts from center st, K2, yo, k7, yo, k2, yo, k5, yo, k2, yo, repeat until last 6 sts, k3, yo, k3 - 233 sts.
Those were the changes I made on my paper copy, but I’m not sure where they came from. I think I got them from posts about the pattern perhaps. I knitted this last year.
It’s a lovely pattern from what I remember. I have some silky yarn and beads to make another (when I don’t have a long list of other things to knit).
