I have long hair, but it’s rather fine and a bit thin. I used the above pattern and embellished it a bit to make the scrunchie big so it would look like I had more hair in my bun than I really do. I used double strand on some…a strand of worsted and a strand of fun fur, or eyelash yarn (fine novelty yarn)held together. I also tried using a single strand thicker novelty yarn from a bargain bin for the brown and tan one. I did 14 to 16 chains in each loop to make them longer and so the scrunchie would be bigger. I used 2 coated elastic bands (1.5 inch) held together per scrunchie for added strength. The center hole is relatively small so it works well with thin hair, but the scrunchie can still be doubled over for even more volume (and security) if desired.
