Testing this beautiful shawl. Its a most enjoyable knit and not difficult either. Great use of yarn * see below
Using felted tweed which is a light dk as my choice of sportweight is pretty nonexistent.
Using 2 markers for the spine as I find it easier with yo’s
14 March : 9 stripes completed
15 March: 17 stripes completed (1st ball of felted tweed)
I am so pleased that I finished the stripes with exactly the correct amount of stitches on the needles :) and I have 4gms of the kidsilk left. I was a bit concerned that I would have to break into another ball, but I didn’t which means this is a great use of a single ball of kidsilk. Well done Kimberly!
Row 14 edging ( 2nd ball of felted tweed )
I have mislaid the other ball with the same dyelot !
Mmmm might have to pull out the edging and alternate skeins.#.what a pain as that’s a fair amount of knitting, AND only 6 rows from finishing ! :( late night photos are not true to colour )
16 March: frogged back. Sorted out the dyelots.# I had knit a whole ball of a different dyelot that had got mixed up with the rest, although there does seem to be some differences within the same dyelots too :(
17 March:
Reknitted and now have just 4 rows left ( but they are long ones )
Looking forward to soaking and blocking soon.
The pattern needed 2 additional rows, but that is fine as this is the testing phase. I like it when the designer suggests which cast off to use and the one suggested in the pattern is perfect.
All done, it’s stunning. Will try to get a photo or two of it unblocked as its going to be a day or two to get it dry due to this constant rain. What is is with purples?! I find them impossible to accurately capture on film. Its a dark plum/ Aubergine purple not blue or pink!
Oh well the resident photographer CK will take proper pics once is soaked and blocked
I used 146gms of the Rowan Felted tweed and 21 grams of the Rowan Kidsilk which is great for such a lovely sized shawl.
I started with a 16” circular needle and then changed to a 32”. It was a bit tight towards the end but I prefer to have the stitches bunched up ;)
Oh this shawl just blocks itself! You will be very pleasantly surprised :)
