Wonderful pattern, which is easy to knit and adjust for size. I have already cast on for another. These photos are not the final ones as I didn’t have access to the camera, only my iPad to take them.

Testing for Emily of Tin Can Knits

This is going to be fun. I want to try to overcome my fear of charts :)

4 May: pattern received, yarn chosen, cast on. Minor corrections noted

5 May: Completed first pattern repeat, weighed 6gms used. Second repeat 4gms
7 repeats required = 42gm being just over a 1/3 rd of required yardage. I will be a little short on yarn ** but I am confident this will work out beautifully, and the designer is flexible :)
Completed 3 repeats of pattern. I am slow!

6 May:
2 More repeats completed! And I finally read the chart for a whole pattern repeat. This is a milestone and opens up a whole new world of patterns for me :)))

** I have 82g / 628 Yds. I have decided to repeat the thistle lace 6 times rather than 7. I am sure this will block very well and that I won’t loose too much in the length. The pattern is a generous 80” anyway so I can afford to make it slightly shorter.
Have completed approx 6” of the column lace which is nice and easy but will be slower due to less holes ;)

7 May:
15” of column lace completed. Still adore this pattern :) already planning the next one in my head,.

8 May:
Playing with the blocking wires today. Hard blocking will give me 29” from the 6 pattern repeats, although it will relax somewhat, maybe 27 1/2”. Next I am going to block the column pattern which I think will block less in length due to it being less holey. I want to try to achieve as near to 1/3 , 2/3 as I can
75% complete :) this cashmere is so lovely to knit with.

9 May: 39” of column lace completed. The yarn has thinned out a lot as I work through the cone end. Hopefully once the oils have been washed out it should even out. If not its not too much of an issue as its the column lace section and won’t notice I think.

The estimated hours of 8-12 is way lower than I have taken already. Will add it all up at the end, but I am not a fast knitter. edited: I estimate I spent at least 24 hrs knitting this.

11 May: no knitting yesterday or during the day. Finally picked up the needles tonight and that lovely cashmere has now had all the oils washed away. I am looking forward to blocking this weekend. If the sun finally returns, then maybe some photos too :)

12 May:
I took so long to block that the cashmere was bone dry by the time I finished ;) I spritzed it so I hope it will be ok. I have hard blocked, if I don’t like it I can always do it again but I don’t know at the moment how much it will relax…..waiting impatiently #

Pre blocking size: 70” x 9”
Post blocking size: 85” x 11”
Relaxed: 82” x 10” fabulous size #

Yarn used: 75gm 575 yards
The Colourmart 4ply is nearer in yardage to heavy laceweight.

This is a birthday present for my dear friend Henrietta, she loves blue I hate blue but I was happy to knit this for her :)
