I used most of the Midnight Blue; if I hadn’t been using some of the other colours one skein would have not been enough.

I love this pattern and the UK Alpaca wool is lovely too. They work well together.

I used the smaller hook for the ribbing because this hat has a tendency to turn out at the brim.

I added four rounds to the ribbing because it hasn’t stretched as much as I expected. I have a nasty feeling it’s a different dye lot.

“Put a pompom on it” my Beloved said. No one told me how heavy a pompom is!

Oh, and if you’re thinking of making pompoms there are lots of tutorials online. What actually worked was buying a plastic pompom maker.

And now I think I prefer the hat without. Well, at least I tried!
