This is a lovely easy pattern suitable for a complete beginner. It’s easier than a granny square!

It suits the very patterned yarn I’m using.

It’s come out rather less drapey than I’d have liked. A larger hook might have been better. Also, I’m wondering if it might have been an idea to find some sock yarn in just one colour that goes with the other colours to make the border with. I’m not changing it now though!
