Based on the Firecracker Gloves but using sc instead of herringbone hdc; working in a spiral; and making half fingers. (I relied on my knowledge of the Fingerless or Not pattern to help with the fingers.)
Chainless Foundation
3ch, make chainless foundation sc stitch into second stitch from hook. This leaves 1 ch hanging. Make 29 foundation sc. For the 30th, go into hanging ch first then make foundation sc as usual. This will make a neat join.
16 rows sc
As sc is shorter than hdc I needed to space out the increases a bit beyond the Firecracker pattern.
Working in a spiral - so st marker marks end of row.
3 rows of inc as per pattern.
1 row sc
next row inc
next row inc after 4 sts, and again 4sts from end
Next 4 rows sc
next row: 4sc, inc, sc to nearly end, inc, 4sc.
Next two rows: sc
next row: 4sc, inc, sc to nearly end, inc, 4sc.
3 rows sc,
sc round to last six stitches, skip 12 stitches (across thumb gusset), continue in sc until reach the base of little finger.
Fingers: mark places where fingers join. Allow 2ch between 1st and next finger and between little and ring finger. 3ch between middle fingers. Need about 14 sts per finger, fewer (12?) for little finger.
Thumb: 2 decs near fingers on two successive rows, then sc all round till big enough.
