Notes

started sept 28th, 2007

mods: cast on 48 stitches for two center pattern repeats instead of four on main section, will probably not knit mirrored version, just continue in one direction then do edging. i love the marisilk and the colorway from das schneeschaf is scrumptious!

update nov 10th, 2007: finished 22 repeats of main section and i have 21 grams left of the first skein (so 3.6 grams per repeat with my mods above) so i would need 43.2 more grams to complete 34 repeats without even a border, so 21.2 grams more than my first 100 gram skein. elemm luckily sent me a second 100 gram skein in matching color and dyelot!

update nov 19th, 2007: finished 31 repeats, still have 10 grams left so the recalculated amount is 2.9 grams per repeat which means i should be able to complete 3 more repeats with the first skein. we’ll see.

update feb 29th, 2008: finally picked this back up again, picked up the right ratio of stitches (7 stitches for every twelve along the long edge, plus 2 more to make 240 stitches along each long edge total) and unknit the cast on row so there wouldn’t be a seam. just finished the first skein after picking up and knitting all the way around the edge. each skein of the marisilk from das schneeschaf is 100 grams.

update may 16th, 2008: after another few months off from this project, i wound up the second skein into a center pull ball and i’m knitting on the border. it goes in a counterintuitively opposite direction: i.e. the border “grows” from left to right when viewing the right side of the stole. somehow i kept wanting it to grow from right to left, in the same direction as knitting would go. my tension is a bit tighter on the border, hopefully it will all come out in the blocking.

update may 18th, 2008: i may run out of yarn on the border. argh. i have 62 grams left and i’m not even halfway done with the first long edge.

update jun 27th, 2008: finished blocking yesterday. ran out of yarn on the border, so i just did the border on the two short sides and one long side, cast off along the last long edge.
